Aladdin X’s Suika Game is simple: drop fruit into a box, and two identical fruits merge into the next size up, from cherry to watermelon. Physics makes every run different, and a single drop can trigger a chain of merges. It launched worldwide on Switch on October 20, 2023, and passed 10 million downloads by June 2024.

2. Merge Panda: best free drop-and-merge game #
Merge Panda takes the same drop-and-merge rule and adds its own systems. You drop snacks into a bamboo crate and merge them up an 11-tier ladder, from Sprout to Emperor Panda. Merges chained within about 2.2 seconds build a combo worth up to 3x points. A run ends only when a settled piece stays above the line for about two seconds, and there’s one optional rescue per run. Three daily missions, a streak gift, 22 achievements and a cosmetic shop give you short-term goals.
It’s free on iPhone, iPad and Android, with no account and no in-app purchases, and it works offline.

Threes! came out in February 2014 and is still the most carefully designed merge game around. 5. Triple Town: best for long-term planners #
Spry Fox’s Triple Town (2010, on mobile since 2012) merges three matching tiles instead of two. Grass becomes a bush, three bushes become a tree, then huts, houses and beyond. Bears wander around and block building spots until you trap them. Planning where each piece goes several turns ahead is the whole game.

Instead of dropping fruit straight down, you fly 360 degrees around a planet and drop from any direction. Making several evolved fruits triggers “Super Evolution Time,” with bonus scoring, and there are skins and a sticker collection for missions.
